Damany Daniel "The Event Nerd"

The Opportunity

To position the Event Nerd and Damany Daniel as the top event producer in Dallas and North Texas.

Since the pandemic shuttered events of all types, The Event Nerd had to shift gears to virtual events in 2020. As a result of this, Dallas Virtual Events was born in May 2021 at The Studios in Deep Ellum.

In the spring of 2021, events had not resumed in Dallas because of the pandemic but the Dallas Mavericks wanted to continue the tradition of the Mavs Ball this year. Subsequently, they decided to continue with the ball but only as a virtual event. Damany and The Event Nerd team had the opportunity to create an amazing virtual event with a live set in Deep Ellum where artists performed throughout the night. For this, the team built a stage that formed a basketball when looked from an aerial perspective making the audience feel like they were.

The Event Nerd made the Mavs Ball feel like an unforgettable virtual experience.

The Development

Although 2021 posed many challenges for live events, that did not stop The Event Nerd, Damany Daniel, from teaming up with CultureHype to host the sixth annual Mavs Ball: House Party  Edition - presented by AT&T - 2021. We saw an opportunity to create a completely virtual event that featured live music and hosts, all in efforts to raise funds and awareness for the Mavs Foundation.

CultureHype and The Event Nerd strived to create a unique experience for guests to experience through their computer screen. Performances by Ghost-Night and multi-Grammy-winning percussion duo Robert “Sput” Searight and Nate Werth, and DJ She Real provided an unforgettable experience for the virtual house parties from the heart of Deep Ellum.

The Results

The Mavs Foundation was able to raise $821,650 to distribute between different causes including COVID relief, winter storm relief and for women, children, and families in need in North Texas. The Event Nerd was able to execute the event with great success bringing players, MFFLs, sponsors, and fans all across the country in a virtual capacity. Fans were able to buy tickets and packages through the Mavs website with different perks and even bid to meet their favorite Mavs players. The event was a total success making way for virtual events to be as successful as live events with the magic of technology.
