Taco Libre

The Opportunity

Expand the sold-out event to reach even more people. Create new & unique storytelling opportunities each year.

Taco Libre approached CultureHype to take the festival to the next level & raise awareness of the event’s mission: to bring people together with tacos, live music & lucha libre wrestling. The festival is known for bringing together Dallas top taco joints each spring, along with several authentic taquerias straight from Mexico City, all curated by taco curator José R. Ralat. To do this, CultureHype & the Taco Libre team worked closely with the Mexican Consulate General to offer exclusive interviews to the Dallas Observer. This was an opportunity to expand the festival’s reach & showcase the festival in a unique way.

The Development

CultureHype developed a strategy for media coverage with unique storytelling to increase event awareness in a market that is not their core audience. The strategy focused on getting the festival placed in well recognized regional publications. CultureHype also worked with digital food influencers in both the culinary & cultural space to further increase awareness of the event.

The Results

Taco Libre Festival established itself as a must-attend event each year, a Dallas staple. By storytelling with the Mexican Consulate & two taquerias from Mexico City, we were able to story tell about a festival without borders who brings countries, cultures & communities together through food. The festival garnered new attention this year with feature stories in the Dallas Observer , D Magazine, Eater Dallas, & more. Taco Libre established itself as more than just a food festival, but a community gathering you shouldn’t miss.

I love working with CultureHype on our events & projects. Amber & her team have a great media network & aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves, be creative, brainstorm, & do whatever it takes to get the job done while having a little fun doing it. Highly recommended.
